About me: Welcome to Hampton! This is my third year as the principal of Hampton Elementary School…and it just keeps getting better and better! I feel very fortunate to be at Hampton. This is a fabulous school, from students and their families, to staff and their families, our students are truly raised by the Hampton community, and I LOVE that. My job is to simply make great greater!
My educational history goes a little like this- I grew up in a small town called Kinde, attending North Huron throughout my K-12 schooling years. I earned my Bachelors from Central Michigan University (Fire Up Chips), and my Masters in Educational Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.
Prior to coming to Hampton, I have had a career as an educational vagabond. I started in Bay City as a traveling teacher, going to six schools per week teaching two different subjects. Also, within my time as an educator, I have taught Kindergarten, first, second, third, and fourth grade. I didn’t get the opportunity to hit for the educational cycle by teaching fifth, but I have had the opportunity to work with some phenomenal fifth grade teachers that have shown me the ins and outs of what fifth grade is about.
On a personal level, I have been married to my husband, Matt, for seven years. Matt is a teacher in the district (no, not at Hampton), which makes it nice for planning family time. We have two wonderful, yet vampiric children: Mitchell is four and Madilyn is two, and sleeping is not their forte. Clearly, my hobby is sleep-walking. When I am not sleep walking, I am sleep snow skiing, or sleep horseback riding.
Bottom line…I work hard and play hard. I absolutely love what I do. This is not a job, it is a living. I believe in educating children, and think that learning should be a fun and life-long endeavor. Thank you for all of your support in helping to nurture independent and successful children. Together, we CAN make a difference!!!
