About me:
Welcome to 5th grade at Hampton Elementary School!
My name is Ms. Lorraine (Laurie) Jeske. This is my 23rd year of teaching for the Bay City Public Schools. I have taught mainly 4th and 5th grades along with 2 years in Special Education. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from SVSU in Elementary Education. I have also earned two Master’s Degrees: one to be an Elementary Principal and another in Central Office Administration.
I have a son, Brad (29) a daughter Amy (31), and a wonderful son-in-law, Tony. I have 2 grandsons, Andrew (3) and Dameo who is almost 2. Ironically, I attended Hampton School when I was in 4th grade, my children went to school here and my parents both taught here. Hampton has been a huge part of my life. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I like to go up North, scrapbook, watch movies, and travel (just about anywhere).
In fifth grade we will be focusing on U.S. history, government, reading, writing, and math. Our three science units are: Systems and Survival, Force and Motion, and Objects in Space, which studies our solar system. The fifth graders will take field trips that support what they are learning in their curriculum. Most of our trips are at Jennison Nature Center and of course there will be our annual trip to Camp Timbers in May before graduation.
